BTOG welcomes new steering committee member

BTOG is delighted to welcome Paula Shepherd to the steering committee. Paula is currently a lung cancer clinical nurse specialist at Liverpool University Hospital Foundation Trust.

She qualified as an RGN in 2001 and her main experience has been gained within respiratory medicine, with a particular interest in lung cancer. She has been a respiratory CNS since 2009 and began her role as a lung cancer CNS in 2011, moving to her current Trust in 2013.

Paula has completed numerous role specific degree modules and became a non-medical prescriber in 2017. She is currently undertaking a MSc in advanced clinic practice, with her completed modules including context of advanced practice, acute oncology, cardiorespiratory/neurology clinical examination and diagnostics, leadership, research, and interpretation of medical imaging.

Her role as a lung cancer CNS involves supporting patients throughout their pathway from pre-diagnosis through to palliative care.

Paula became a member of the Lung Cancer Nursing UK committee in 2020 and began working with the BTOG steering committee in March 2022.
