How long until the BTOG 2019 Annual Conference?

BTOG 2019 Timetable

Wednesday 23rd January 2019 – Registration opens at 10:00 for 11:00 start and the programme finishes with the BTOG 2019 Welcome reception at 20:00 to 21:30.

Thursday 24th January 2019 – Registration opens at 07:30 for 09:00 start and the programme finishes at 18:00. Conference dinner reception at 19:30/Dinner at 20:00.

Friday 25th January 2019 – Programme starts at 09:00 and the programme and conference finishes at 15:00.

Ideally located in Dublin 4, minutes from St Stephens Green and within walking distance of Aviva Stadium, the RDS and main business districts, Clayton Hotel Burlington Road is the ideal base whatever your reason for visiting the Irish capital. The Aircoach and Dublin Bus route 7B, 7D, 11, 46a, 116 and 145 stop directly outside the hotel and the Luas Green Line (tram) stops nearby at Charlemont linking to St Stephens Green, Dundrum, Sandyford and Cherrywood business parks.

Getting Here From Dublin Airport

Option 1: Aircoach departs up to every 15 minutes and stops outside our front door. Journey time both to and from the airport is approximately 35 minutes.

Option 2: a taxi from the airport typically costs €35 and takes 30 minutes but will vary with traffic. Please note all taxis take cash but not all will take credit cards, a dispatcher is available at the rank for assistance.

Driving Directions From Dublin Airport: Exit the airport and take the M1 motorway towards the city centre. Just before the railway bridge on Drumcondra Road, take a left onto Clonliffe Road. Continue along East Wall Road which takes you to the East Link Bridge (toll). Come off the East Link bridge and continue to roundabout and take a right onto Sean Moore Road. Continue to the traffic lights and turn right, then take the first left onto Church Avenue. Continue through the next set of traffic lights onto London Bridge Road. Turn left onto Bath Avenue, then Haddington Road, reaching Mespil Road with the canal on your right-hand side. Take the last left before you reach the traffic lights, onto Sussex Road, and continue along for 400m. The hotel is on the left-hand side. Clayton Hotel Burlington Road offers on-site car parking facilities for resident guests and visitors which is operated on a first come first served basis.

The hotel is located south of the Grand Canal on Sussex Road (off Upper Leeson Street) in Dublin 4.

Scholarship Fund

Online applications for the BTOG 2019 Scholarship Fund are now closed. Thank you for your interest.

BTOG received a total of 112 applications for funding.  The Scholarship Committee has approved all applicants who applied for their registration fee - 109 delegates - 95 concessionary and 14 full rate and this amounts to £26,250.  The sponsorship kindly provided by Lilly Oncology and Takeda Oncology totalled £25,000. Printed Poster

A0 Portrait orientation on paper or fabric

Maximum width 841 mm x maximum height 1189 mm

Posters that exceed the maximum width and height cannot be displayed on the poster boards

Posters must not include any inappropriate commercial bias, promotion or branding unless clearly stated in a balanced and objective manner.  QR codes and text key codes are allowed in posters but linking to product advertising must be avoided.  If you provide a copy of your poster through a QR code, BTOG suggests that you include an appropriate disclaimer on your poster that states that the poster is for personal use only and may not be reproduced without written permission of the authors.

There will be the option of ordering your printed fabric poster from Scienceposters and this can be delivered direct to the Registration Desk at BTOG 2019 for you to pick up.

We will print your poster on our foldable fabric - supplied folded in an A4 sized plastic box - perfect for transportation ie no 3 foot poster tube and no air fees if flying!

Our normal price just for printing is £63 so the price negotiated by BTOG, which includes delivery to Dublin, is a significant saving.

POSTERS SHOULD BE SIZED 84 cm x 118.8 cm (A0 portrait) for printing

The deadline for submission is strictly the 16th January 2019

Poster Put-up and Take-down

All posters will be displayed in the Poster Areas in the BTOG 2019 Exhibition and Conference Area.

Poster Put-up: Thursday 24th January 2019 - 07:30 onwards and by 10:30

Poster Take-down: Friday 25th January 2019 – From 13:30 - 15:30

Should you have to leave before Friday at 13:30, please designate a colleague to be responsible for removing your poster.  Any posters not removed by the end of the poster take-down time will be disposed of.  BTOG does not bear any responsibility for returning uncollected posters to the authors.


Mandatory Poster Placement and Poster Viewing

Posters must be in place on the designated poster board on Thursday 24th January 2019 by 10:30 in time for the refreshment break at 10:50.

Posters can be viewed during all BTOG 2019 conference open times on Thursday 24th and Friday 25th January 2019.

Posters can be affixed with Velcro or double-sided tape only – please bring your own – the BTOG 2019 Registration desk will hold a small stock of Velcro.
Fabric posters are usually provided with custom made plastic holders which should be used on the top left and right - pins cannot be used. These should be used together with Velcro or double sided tape.


Finding Your Poster Number in the Abstract Book

At registration at BTOG 2019 you will receive a copy of the Supplement to Lung Cancer containing the abstracts from BTOG 2019.  In the Author Index look up an author surname for your abstract - the number shown in brackets is the poster number.  Poster boards are numbered accordingly.


Poster Presentation

During the following times you can stand by your poster to informally answer questions from BTOG 2019 delegates – this is not compulsory.
Thursday 24th January 2019 – 10:50 - 11:20; 13:00 - 14:00; 15:30 – 16:00

Friday 25th January 2019 – 10:30 – 11:00 and 12:30 - 13:30

Invitation to submit original, previously unpublished research or audit carried out by your department or group as a poster abstract to BTOG 2019.  Accepted abstracts will be published in a journal supplement.

Topics:  Basic Science; Diagnosis & Staging; Lung Cancer Systemic Therapy ; Small Cell Lung Cancer; Radiotherapy; Surgery; Mesothelioma; Clinical Networks & Pathways; Nursing and Allied Health Professionals; Supportive Care; Trials in Progress; Case Reports; Other.

Abstract maximum  is 300 words (excluding abstract title and one diagram or table).

BTOG’s position on Encore Abstracts

  1. The abstract/poster must not have been previously published (in original or amended form).
  2. With the exception of National Lung Cancer Forum for Nurses 2018, an abstract/poster submitted/presented at another conference and then submitted to BTOG 2019 must contain additional information or data to the original.  This must be declared on the submission.
